Watch IT: Vampire Diaries redux
For all my posturing over last week's show, I'm thoroughly addicted to The Vampire Diaries. I've probably watched it over twenty times since last week (yeah, that's like...twice a day...every day).
A few things that still got on my nerves:
1. Synchronous diary readings
2. Describing the primary relationship as "epic" - this would have totally worked were I not already committed to another "epic" relationship - that of Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls
3. The appearance of only ONE teacher in the entire friggin' high school that teaches every class and every student
I also noticed that my personal attraction meter does not extend to the male vampire lead nor the football jock. In fact, I kinda only have the hots for:
1. The bloodthirsty, murderous killer vampire (Iam Somerhalder)
2. The addicted drug pusher (Little Bro)
Yeah, I have issues. I'll work on them.
But what's working? What's working so awesome that I need to mainline The Vampire Diaries??
1. The female bffs. I'm digging how they're friends. Like real, functional friends. Or as functional as a psychic witch and an orphan vampire-magnet can get.
2. Ian Somerhalder. This guy's working it BIG time.
3. The familial drama. No after school one-episode drug special for this show. Little Bro's not getting clean anytime soon.
Now get outta here - I gotta get my repeat viewing on.

I'm so glad I'm not the only "adult" who's loving this show! I'm so not a vampire fan (yes, I confess I do love Twilight, but they are not traditional vamps, so...) but I'm so into this series. And you are spot on with the what's not working and what is working list. Ugh, the teacher thing drives me nuts and see you it ALL time in books, movies and TV. Why is this? My only other issue is with the whole vampire-appearing-girl-turning-to-find-him-shock. After about the third time it loses it's shock factor, big time.
Have you read the books?
Sigh...I abso LOVE this show. Yeah, there are a ton of cheesey moments, but I don't care. It's good entertainment, and I'm easy, lol!! I heart Damon :)
Ooh, Rebecca, good point, I hope they don't start EVERY show with a feeding and and have EVERY female character engaged in that whip-around act. I have read the first three in the series and loved how it ended - just so risky and unusual - but I haven't picked up the revitalization. If you have and it's worth a read, lemme know!
Lisa - I totally try to pass watching this show off as "work *cough my writing job cough* research" but I think my friends are onto me. I just love cheese!!
The word epic got on my nerves regarding their relationship. Definitely. But this episode did entertain me, made me jump once or twice too. I think Little Bro is the most attractive myself!
I was nervous about Little Bro but turns out he's 21! Let the crushing begin!
